www.shiras.net will eventually display our family tree. Each name will act as a link, so when you click on it, your browser will take you to either of two types of pages:
The personal home page of that family member
A link to that branch of the family, containing more of the tree and more links
If you don't have a web site yet, your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will assist you in creating it.
I don't know exactly how I'm going to implement all this, and I'm going to need some help and information from all of you along the way. Many thanks to Judy Sharp for her tremendous effort in compiling the tree this generation!
www.shiras.net will contain my personal web page until I can find the time to start developing the tree in HTML. Meanwhile, please start developing your personal web pages. It's fun and easy!
I would like to hear your thoughts on this and any ideas you have.
Also, will you please send me any e-mail addresses of Shiras family members that you know of? Thanks.
You can purchase e-mail addresses at shiras.net. You would use your current ISP, and just add an account to send and receive from <your name>@shiras.net. It costs $60.00 per year. From that point forward, you will never have to change your e-mail address again! I can purchase the name for you. Just e-mail me.
Incidentally, someone in Manila is trying to sell the shiras.com URL (not shiras.net) for over a thousand dollars. They will not say why they own it or why they are selling it or even why they purchased it from Internic in the first place. Their purchase came shortly after I made an inquiry to see if it had been taken already (in December of 1999). I suspect they are "squatters", and are acting illegally. If you know the laws regarding this, please let me know. Squatters should be quashed. For more information, click here.
