Sunrise Lake Hike 8/5/05
Getting there -- From Enumclaw, drive east on state Route 410 to the White River Entrance of Mount Rainier National Park and continue to Sunrise. Park at Sunrise Point (6,100 feet), about three miles and 300 feet below Sunrise. There are no facilities (they're at Sunrise). The trail begins on the north side of the road. The park day pass is $10 per vehicle.
Trail data -- 1 mile each way to Sunrise Lake. It is about 6.6 miles round trip to Upper Palisades Lake with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. If you include Hidden Lake, it's about 7 miles round trip with an additional 250 feet of elevation gain. The map is Green Trails No. 270 Mount Rainier East, Wash.
The sign doesn't say Sunrise Lake because it's so close!
